Yesterday Johnson posted this year's Drunk Risk Video - well worth watching for those of you who love either 1) Risk or 2) Drinking. Definately one of the highlights of the holiday season!

Shrimp, Asparagus in Yellow Curry

Shrimp, Asparagus in Yellow Curry

Cook 6 ounces of shrimp in butter on medium heat until it turns opaque. Salt with lemon pepper as it cooks. Remove shrimp. Fresh Asparagus is steamed until you can slide a fork through it. For the curry, mix 2 tablespoons of yellow curry powder per 1 cup of vanilla soy milk once milk is boiling. Let simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, then add in shrimp and two handfuls of peanuts. Put heat on low and let sit for a few more minutes. Spread over bed of rice and enjoy.

One of my favorite dishes to cook and it doesn't take long at all - you can have everything ready by the time the rice has finished cooking!

Death by Guinness '06

Death By Guinness 2006...what more can be said? We had such a great turnout of people this year - from friends flying into town to surprise appearances by coworkers - yes, its about the Guinness, but its the company that really makes it. At virtually every bar we had people dropping in to see how we were faring, making it an almost "Norm" like feeling when someone walks in and we all yell out their name in greeting.

As much as I love Guinness, I think Scot and I will be worn out for a time. Last year it took me 4 months before I could even look at one without dry heaving. This year, I learned my lesson and took my time. Paced myself. Gave my body time to absorb and drink before taking the next. Others...were not so lucky. Like that sign that looked at me funny at 1 am, so I had to take it out, Bosworth style.

Huge success!

Death by Guinness 2006 will be held on August 12th, 2006!!!

In its second year, Death by Guinness is a single day tour of every Irish Bar in Seattle city limits. The rules are simple. 1 bar an hour. 1 Guinness an hour. The schedule will be posted in the coming days. Friends need not worry about not being able to do all the bars, as they are free to come and go at the scheduled times (rides are appreciated!).

Volunteers (aka non-drinkers) are needed this year for 'DD" duties and photos. This year we plan on adding one more bar (17 in total) and plan to podcast for posterity purposes (its a very "heart of darkness" journey from sober 10am to destroyed 2am that must be documented). Hell, if someone wants to film.....

New Years 2006

Wow, what a great New Year's! This year featured my sister visiting from Phoenix, upwards of forty-fifty guests, and culminated once again with the Space Needle's fireworks show viewed from my neighbor's patio. Thanks to everyone who made it!

Death by Guinness 2005

Five years ago, two friends were joking about hitting every Irish Bar in Seattle in one fell swoop. Lives progressed, people married and had kids, and sadly the idea was forgotten. That is, until one day in 2005 the friends were recounting old emails and stumbled upon a brief mention of the Death by Guinness tour. Could it still be done, even this long into it? Can the five year pursuit of Guinness Goodness withstand most marriages?

We believed that it could be done!

On the bright, sunny morning of August 13th, Scot Baker and I kicked off what will hopefully become an annual tradition. 16 Irish bars in 16 hours, one imperial pint of Guinness had in each one. The best part of this crawl is that since we had published times beforehand, friends were free to come and go as they please. Below is a list of the places we went to:
