Cousin Deanne was kind enough to invite me out to Walla Walla this year for Thanksgiving in what turned out to be a mahhhvelous feast of Triptofan goodness, marathon Xboxing, and goofy picture taking. I mean, I always assumed that my general goofiness was inherited from my mom's side, but after hanging out with the Rhoades' clan, I'm not so sure. Obviously as you can tell, I didn't inherit the family's good looks (fellas, she's single!).
Taller, 50+lbs heavier, but she still gets the wish.
Anyway, winding down the weekend by sitting down at my parents house, gives me the opportunity to reflect on the year that has been and some of the things that I'm thankful for. And this blog gives me the stage to genuflect, so without further adieu...
- Travel. Duh.
- Having an extended family that treats you like a son and brother. When my parents split, I was always worried that I would be divorced out of the family, but in reality those ties are stronger than ever. Thanks guys, much love to you all.
- My sister and her husband getting married this summer, taking some of the heat off of me.
- Work - you get a whole new appreciation for it after taking a year off. I'm thankful that my employer was happy to take me back, even with things hitting the shitter.
- Shout out to friend Tara in NYC. One of the things I realized today as I picked up my suits from storage was how much she helped me out while I was in New York. Not just with the clothes shopping, but often times she was the last bulwark I had between my sanity and losing it completely. Thank you.
- Fred Croson, Farmer, the Meeks, and the rest of the Eastlake Community Church crew. I'm not a holy person, but seeing them all at work in Thailand helped change my views of American evangelicism and goes to show for every pedophile priest, there's hundreds of good, decent people out there whose deeds never make the press. Keep on churchin.
In truth, I came to dinner just to be the tallest guy around.

Ditto. What she said.
