Hi friends - I'm leaving for Germany tomorrow and don't plan on updating the site until I return in a couple of weeks. I know, you are heartbroken. Look on the bright side though, you could be in Germany drinking beer!

Here we go again

Of all the times to hurt myself again, four days before a trip to Germany is probably not the best time.
Doc is pretty sure its a torn MCL, like the last time but worse on on the "good" knee. Problem is that he can't be sure, as I'm going to be out of the country and the MRI will have to wait.
Basketball related, and I actually felt my kneecap move a good 2 inches outside of where it should be before it popped back in.
Sucks to be me, yes, but on the otherhand I plan on parlaying this injury for sympathy from a few Fraulines while I'm out there.

     Thanks for the email. Please I have a client who is very much interested in buying your vehicle. He happened to budget for a car last time but unfortunately it was sold. So i have discussed with him and he has agreed that he will be willing to have the vehicle shipped to Canada upon reaching an agreement with you. I even tried giving you a call but didn't go through. Kindly permit me to ask few things about the condition of the car although it's all stated in the A.D but i need to know the exact state or condition of the car presently, how many mileage is on it presently? any mechanical fault? what of the engine and please your rock price is required.       Thanks for your response. I'm happy to inform you that I have concluded with my client MAJ. Schneider Adams and he has asked me to proceed with the transaction.
       He went further to tell me that this transaction is being sponsored by the church committee members of the Church Of God Mission inc. Canada on behalf of him and his wife.
     Already, a cashier's check of ($32,000) has been mapped by the church committee members which now covers the whole expenses of the purchase of your vehicle, tax ,pickup of the vehicle from it location and shipping charges or any shipping arrangements.

First though, I want to be very clear...the car costs $27,000 AMERICAN DOLLARS. I only say this because I had a situation already where I made a deal once where someone once tried to pay me in Canadian dollars. I wasn't happy being taken advantage of - it was the last deal they made.

This is great! I appreciate all of the work you have done on this and be sure to pass along my congratulations to Father Adams on getting a great car.

So...this is going to be kind of a weird request...but please keep an open mind. I thought of something that could prove beneficial to myself and the buyer - I realize that he's a churchmember and all, but do you think instead of sending the $32,000, he could UPS me approximately 215lbs of Canadian-medical-grade marijuana? Its currently sitting in the back of an empty shoestore about 2 hours outside of his address and I'm unable to bring it down to the states at this time -  I am a pharmicist (by hobby) and the fees for importing medicinal marijuana are a bit steep. You would save me a pretty tricky trip across the border by just shipping me the stuff directly. Its easy enough... you know, hollow Bibles, fill them, and then ship them. It *is* a lot of work, which is why I'm willing to accept a lower trade in terms of value (who knows, maybe his jubilee comittee would be able to help out - just kidding!). :)

Discretion would be appreciated. Please let me know what you think. Maybe if Schneider is unsure of this, you can do it yourself?

Brian's Wedding

Growing up, trips with my sister to visit family in Walla Walla were a summer tradition. I can clearly remember scheming against my sister and Deanne, sneaking rum down to the basement with Jonny, and practing wrestling moves on Brian, WWF-style. So it was with a heart full of memories and happiness that I made the 4 hour trip to Eastern Washington to see the youngest of the three siblings married off.

Brian and Melissa are great together and I wish them nothing but long, happy memories. Photos

Death by Guinness '06

Death By Guinness 2006...what more can be said? We had such a great turnout of people this year - from friends flying into town to surprise appearances by coworkers - yes, its about the Guinness, but its the company that really makes it. At virtually every bar we had people dropping in to see how we were faring, making it an almost "Norm" like feeling when someone walks in and we all yell out their name in greeting.

As much as I love Guinness, I think Scot and I will be worn out for a time. Last year it took me 4 months before I could even look at one without dry heaving. This year, I learned my lesson and took my time. Paced myself. Gave my body time to absorb and drink before taking the next. Others...were not so lucky. Like that sign that looked at me funny at 1 am, so I had to take it out, Bosworth style.

Huge success!

Goonfest Circus

This year,  yours truly just wanted to concentrate on being the best damn Circus-human-cannonball-goon that he could have been. On July 31st, Goons from around the country come to Milwaukee to participate in the sixth annual "Goonfest", a scholarly event where we all dress up like Goons and drink heavily.
Goonfest 2006 "Circus" featured over 20 goons, plenty of shots on the television, an alleged Brewer Sausage assault, and two arrests. Great times.
Should I tell the story?
OK - twist my arm, I'll tell the story.
Allegedly, someone hit one of the sausage mascots with a yellow plastic bat. The cops arrested said person (who may or may not have been part of the goonery), then started searching for the bat and in doing so, started going through our vehicles. As Goon Scott was closing his tailgate to his SUV, he hit a cop on the back of the head. Cops being cops, they arrested him. Scott, by the way, was dressed like a clown. Two cops arresting a 6'5" clown. Pretty comical. GoonScott is fine, no charges filed, but I sort of wish I was there to see him empty his pockets of balloons, candy, balls, pictures, and other clown like acrutraments in the booking station.

Its actually become a summer event at Millerpark, where even the station attendants remember us from years past. We walked into a bar after the game in costume and even the folks there remembered us from watching the game the year prior. The legend grows.

135 miles left...

This past weekend, I was finally able to hike Gothic Basin. Located at the tail end of the Mountain Loop highway, the Gothic Basin hike was originally an old miner's trail. Apparently, switchbacks were not part of the miner's vocabulary, as the hike goes straight up...3300 feet straight up.
Jayson, Amber, and I tackled this hike on a beautiful summer day. The trail was mostly empty, as we only saw about 5 other people on the trail all day. Finding the lake atop the basin was a bit of a challenge. I prefer to call it "exploring" (never lost). Eventually, Jayson and I realized that the delicatley place cairns we were following was actually art (or a cruel joke) as they led to nowhere - climbing high atop boulders, we were eventually able to find the lake and our destination.
The hike on this day was relatively bug free - guidebooks say the trip is about 7.6 miles, but don't take into account the mile it takes to hike to the trailhead and back. The trail is steep, but the views are worth it - plan on 7-8 hours if you decide to (and you should) tackle Gothic Basin.
