Introduction

Early in April many trails are still snow-covered. Jayson and I, in need of some outdoor hiking, decided to try out the Iron Goat Trail. Located near Skykomish, Washington, Iron Goat followed the long-abandoned Great Northern railway. The trail runs about 12 miles to the abandoned townsite of Wellington. Along the way, we'd encounter caved-in tunnels and snow - a lot more than we had planned. We were stopped about 3 miles shy of our goal and we grudgingly turned around to head back to the parking lot.

A highlight of the hike was the burgers found at the Prospector in Gold Bar. Half pound Black Angus burgers...definately a stop over the next time I'm in the area.
